The Smiley Story – Part 6: Location Locked In, Lease Signed… We Have a Home!

Just prior to leaving for our Queensland research trip, we started negotiations on the two factories we were looking at in Pakenham.

Both owners were willing to work with us, both were coming to the party on terms and lease conditions. It had come down to our pick now!

We chose the location that we thought had the best exposure, a corner property facing Southeast Boulevard and side-on to Commercial Drive.

Anyone going through the roundabout would see our signage once complete. It wasn't far into the South East Business Park and was on the main road, everything we wanted from an exposure point of view.

More floor space than we originally looked for, but better access. We couldn't ask for more.

The lease documents came through promptly, the solicitor reviewed them, and all was good.

WE HAVE A HOME!

We arrived back in Melbourne in the last week of February. The lease documents were all signed, and in the first week of March, we collected the keys.

Did I mention…

WE HAVE A HOME!

After five failed attempts, almost 12 months and a pandemic, we'd finally found the home of Smiley Brewing Co.

Now to get everyone on board, start the design and get the appropriate permits and licences!
